BalRivgam today announced the first commercial 2.3 GHz WCS network in the U.S. was up and running. The network, established by MegaBroadband of Massachusetts, uses spectrum provided by BalRivgam and equipment from Navini Networks.
The initial network, located in Bristol County, Mass., will support up to 3,000 users. Currently, there are plans to serve more than 10,000 users within 2 years. Navini's non-line-of-sight technology offers tremendous deployment and scalability advantages to achieve these goals. The network offers a host of features, including dial-up replacement and fully portable high-speed broadband wireless access.
BalRivgam intends to develop 2.3 GHz in other parts of Massachusetts, as well as in California, Phoenix, Minnesota and Milwaukee.
